A list of the video production services we don’t offer would be … well … very, very short. Our video activities fall into three main areas: pre-production, production, and post-production.
Pre-Production
Pre-production may be an uninspiring word but it includes the most inspiring part – the creative. During this part we get to think up ideas. That’s right, we just think ‘em up! Of course the ideas we think up are always born in the detailed analysis of the communications needs of our clients. Who is the audience? What are the key messages? What are the particular strategic and tactical issues? Stuff like that. Then we move into video scriptwriting and go to work on the minutia of production details that must be managed flawlessly to make the video production experience a happy one.
Production
The script is the blueprint for the video production. Once it’s in place we can get on with all the things for which it calls. We do the directing and shooting, the sound recording, the narration, the animation and graphics. These days, we produce most of our videos in high definition (HD video) but always choose the right format for the application. During production our team expands to include a schwack of crafts people with whom we have long term relationships of trust. They are the best in the business – they always come through for us and help us always come through for our clients.
Post-Production
Once all the video shooting, audio recording and elements such as animation have been done, it’s time to move into post-production editing to weave together that program that’ll make ‘em laugh, make ‘em cry, make ‘em aware or make ‘em just pay attention. The delivery options vary greatly depending on the final medium. Does it go out as a video file? A Flash file? Sometimes a video needs that extra little something and whether that’s a simple logo animation, a full blown 3D Landscape or some other brainwave, it all comes together in the editing suite.

Freshwater Creative is blessed with an array of amazing video clients for which we give the best of our talents and passion. Some are big like EnCana and Suncor. Some are educational like Grant McEwan College and St. Mary’s University College. Some are non-profit like the Calgary Foundation. Some are public sector like the Province of Alberta and Sustainable Development Technology Canada. You get the idea. But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.
